A New Way To Play

Here is a set I made on polyvore. (A site where you can play with fashion and make your own outfits from items you can actually purchase online, if you can afford them. Each set you make lists the items you used for others to see, and purchase if they want to. Er, you can purchase *most* of the items in the sets, some of them you cannot.) I am particularily proud of it. I made it for the steampunk group. I’d actually wear some of those outfits, if they would fit me properly and look good, and…I could afford them. *sigh* (Some of them would look really nice on me!) Here is a wikipedia article about steampunk, and below the set you will find the group administrator’s parameters for the steampunk group. (Did you know that calling cards are coming back into fashion, because of those who prefer to express themselves via Steampunk? It is true. Wish a recycling company of either cloth or paper would pounce on this…)

Mysterious Glow

This is a lantern I got for Christmas from the Mr. I think it is quite beautiful, lit or unlit. D kindly held the lantern up so I could photograph it glowing in the sun.

Friendly Glow

Isn’t it interesting, how we seem to bring Nature inside our homes, without even fully realizing it? These leaves have the same glow paper lanterns bring into a home, except the leaves only glowed this way for a time.

Year of the Oak (to date)

Here is another study I did, of the view up a one hundred (at least) year old oak tree over the seasons. I missed the month of July this time around, but I will make certain I have pictures next July so I have a full year with each month represented. New Blog Header!

This is the header I’m using for Fall/Thanksgiving 2008, for the Cutline theme. I used a photo I took out at Elk City Reservoir, and some clip art graphics to make a digital collage using paint to make the initial green template, and Microsoft Picture It! 2000 to add and place things, including the text.

Carousel

We just had our Inter-State Fair and Rodeo from August 9 to 17th. (One of the fair days was rained out, so the rescheduled the events and extended the fair by a day.) I got some pictures of a carousel at the carnival. Some of the pictures are closer than others, because I’d wait for the children to be getting off, and photograph the empty “horses” being careful not to have any children in my shot. I only had from when the carousel stopped, to when it started again to get my photos, and sometimes the “horse” I wanted a picture of wasn’t at the place where the fence was closer to the carousel.

Not for the faint of heart. (Or those with arachnophobia at the least.)

Here are various spider pictures I’ve gotten over the Summer. Some were taken at night at Elk City Resevoir, using a hand crank LED flashlight to help with lighting. Others were taken in the yard, or at Elk City during the day, I also got pictures of a *MONSTROUS* Wolf Spider and its prey at my FIL’s house. (The spider wasn’t killed, the dowel rod is an attempt to show size. Its diameter is about the same as a AA battery, maybe bigger. That is a rather large cricket it has carried up the door.) I will be merciful, and put the photos behind a “cut” so you won’t have to look unless you want to. ETA: Forgot to put in several! *BLUSH*

The Ever Changing Kansas Sky

Here are various pictures I have taken this month at differing places. I got this first one on June 13, 2008 while out getting other photos. (The same day I got the pictures of the cardinal and turtle.)

I took these pictures of the blue sky and clouds through an old oak tree on June 15, 2008. (The same day I got the catepillar pictures.) I used one of these images for my new header also.

I got this golden sunset picture on June 16, 2008, the same day I got the cloud picture you see on my “A Voice for Tori Vienneau and Dean Springstube” page.

I got these moon pictures during the Summer Solstice (June 18, 2008 ) and after midnight on June 19th. (My camera wants more light for night landscapes. *wry*) The pale glowing photo seen through the trees is the picture I got after midnight.

Night Fountain Reflections

Here are pictures of the fountain reflections I took. I liked how the reflections changed moment by moment, not only the colors, but the water surface as the fountain switched from spraying a fine mist, to not. (I am experimenting with using the “More/Split” feature on WordPress. Please let me know if you see the whole post, or part of it with a “More” link? Thank you.) ETA: There are photos of the full fountain to be seen here.

These photos were taken at about ten PM on June 14th 2008, in Independence Kansas, at the Ralph Mitchell Park and Zoo.

This last photo was taken on June 13th 2008, while I was out getting other photos. It’s the Mr’s shadow/reflection, I fondly refer to him as “giant” because he’s a foot taller than I am. Er, and the reflection is on running water, rain runoff on a road.
