New Blog Theme/Happy Holidays!

Yes, I am saying Happy Holidays.  Why?  Because New Year’s is within the same week as Christmas, not to mention all the other Holidays various people celebrate at this time.  I want to wish everyone Joy during whichever of the Holiday(s) they choose to celebrate in Winter.  *smile*  Here are the custom blog headers I made to use for this season.  They were made in Paint and Microsoft Picture It! believe it or not.  The one that is up right now was made using only fonts, the others were made using a combination of fonts, and “collage style” pastings of other graphics.  I am putting up the ones that are 760 by 190 that I made, mistakenly thinking that the Iceburgg theme used the same size of header.  It doesn’t.  It uses 760 by 150.  *sigh*  Anyway, enjoy the un-squished versions of the custom headers.  I’ll change them periodically this season.

This is the unsquished version of the one I am using right now with Iceburgg:

here is another:

this is the final one, I am not as fond of it, I might not use it.

Also, here is my seasonal avatar as well.

Here are two more headers I made while playing around today, they were made using fonts alone in Paint.

Here are some Winter themed headers I made today as well, using fonts and “collage” applications of other graphics in Microsoft Picture It!

My GW Monk “everyday” build

This is what I have found that works for me, for my casual PvE gaming sessions with friends.  I do have to focus when playing, but combined with my hero Tahlkora* I don’t have to do too much.  I have 12 in Healing Prayers,   13 in Divine Favor, 11 in Protection Prayers, and 8 in Smiting Prayers.  Nothing in my Secondary Attributes.

Weapons: I usually use an Insightful Staff of Healing: +14 energy, 11 – 22 Fire damage, Halves Cast Time of Healing Prayers 20% Chance, Halves Recharge of Spells 20% Chance, +25 Health.  I also have The Yakslapper, Kepkhet’s Refuge, and Riseh’s Wand paired with Healing Ankh: +12 Energy, Halves Cast Time of Healing Prayers 20% Chance, Halves Recharge of Healing Prayers 20% Chance.

The skills I default (Yes, I do load different skills when they are needed.) load are:

Heal Party – +78 Health (plus Divine favor bonus, ups it to over 100)

Healing Breeze –  +8 Health Regeneration for 15 seconds (plus Divine favor bonus)

Healing Seed – For 10 seconds, whenever target other ally takes damage, that ally and all adjacent allies gains 25 health. (Plus Divine favor bonus)

Mend Condition – Remove one Condition from target other ally. If a Condition is removed, that ally is healed for 53 Health.

Convert Hexes – Remove all hexes from target other ally. For 17 seconds, that ally gains +10 armor for each Necromancer hex that was removed.

Shield of Regeneration – For 11 seconds, target ally gains 8 Health Regeneration and 40 armor.

Resurrection Chant –  Resurrect target party member with up to your current health and 29% Energy.  This spell has half the normal range.

Resurrection Signet

Tahlkora has: Heaven’s Delight, Aegis, Protective Spirit, Shield of Regeneration, Mend Condition, Remove Hex, Healing Breeze, Resurrection Chant.  She has The Wayward Wand (Protection Prayers) paired with Divine Symbol: +12 Energy, +5 Armor when over 50% health.

I’ll put up a screenshot of my Attributes Menu, which also shows my skill bar, and give details/names as to the skills that are loaded.  I’ll also put up a screenshot showing how I have set up Tahlkora to complement my build.   I’m bragging and putting the Dragon’s Throat screenshot up in this entry.  I am also putting in some screenshots taken during the Ring of Fire mission that I think are HILARIOUS!  (Because I can walk my Monk out into lava, and it won’t kill her, and she’s in tattoos, a coconut bra, and a loincloth, with a cape.)  I wasn’t worried a bit at my health dropping, because my Shield of Regeneration negated the burning.  Lastly, I will put in an image of my monk at level 13 in action, en route to do some quest or another.  (To show what I used before I got my nice elite skills. I need more, but I have a decent amount for how little I play.  I have 19/120 Canthan Elite skills, 13/141 Elonian Elite Skills, and 31/90 Tyrian Elite Skills.)  My Monk is Ascended and defeated the Lich King, Weh no Su and defeated Shiro. I’ve not gone very far into the Elonian storyline with my Monk, because I want to Master the Canthan missions before moving on.  (Either I’m not feeling up to playing lately, or my friends aren’t.  They are the only ones I will group with, I *HATE* PUGS! See definition one if you do not know what it means.)

*Note: When my friends and I did Vizunah Square as Tyrians, I didn’t have a Hero.  I was the sole healer for my group, and when the two groups met up I ended up keeping Master Togo alive also because the other group’s healer quit healing him.  I kept 10 characters alive through that mission!

ETA: Here are some images of my Monk in “dress” armor, Droknar’s Forge Sacred Armor dyed minty green, I think it was green plus silver dye before they changed the dye system, and took out dye remover.  (Which is runed, and infused just like my Monk’s tattoos are, for the record.)  I put it on when not doing missions or quests.  (Like when doing Holiday games/events.)  Yes, she still has tattoos on her feet.  I didn’t like the look of the sandals on the set, and I think it makes sense to leave tattoos peeking out.  Plus, the foot tattoo stats are better than the sandal stats (at the time I bought my Drok’s Forge armor sets) from the Sacred set, IMO.  Also, those are Droknar’s Forge Woven Handwraps, they are not part of the Sacred Set.  I love their look.

(Yeah, didn’t hit shift while taking this SS, but getting that pose again is unlikely.)

ETA:  This is a screenshot showing friends having fun.  I get teased, but they love me.  I do get to have fun sometimes, like Lava Baths.  They’ll (the friends I play GW and other MMORPGs with) move around and pose pretty for me so I can take more screenshots for my “photo album” too.

UPDATE!

Here are my monk’s updated skills, now that I know they don’t level out past a certain point. The two points in Smiting Prayers are either from my weapon or head tattoo.  Earlier I was running a smite build.  In any case, they are not points I have spent.

I’ve been tagged!

I’ve been tagged by Our Descent Into Madness!  Here are the rules:

1) Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
2) Share 7 facts about yourself.
3) Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
4) Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on  their blog.

Seven Facts About Me:

1.  I play a monk (healer) on Guild Wars, (they say it takes a certain, patient quick thinking personality to be able to play a healer in MMORPGs well) and I prefer the non-flashy non-prestige Star Pattern tattoos (Last I knew, tattoos gave the most energy of all the armors available to my monk, with GW:EN that might have changed though.) from Droknar’s Forge over the prestige tattoos I have seen.  (The Dragon tattoos don’t look as good as the abstract star pattern, IMO.  And I love dragons!)  The Star Pattern tatts are cheaper, and have the same stats.  (I’d do more things off the net if there were anything here to do, the pen and paper Role Playing Gaming group I participated in is defunct.)  I own all the “Chapters” except Guild Wars: Eye of the North.

2.  I *LOVE* Deep Forest Mint chocolate bars, from the Endangered Species Chocolate company.  (But the health food store rarely has them anymore. *sad sigh*)  It is ethically traded chocolate, and it is *YUMMY*!  I love this company’s ethic too.

3.  I can play the recorder, (A Yamaha Soprano Baroque professional quality to be exact.)  and I’ve been known *blush* to play this song and play my recorder to the hypno-riff snythesizer melody, including the higher repeating bit.  I can also play the Fiddler on the Roof melody, and others, like Robert Miles’ Fable.

4.  I still climb trees, if given the chance to.

5.  I love to sit still, and watch quietly, whether it is people in a public place, or nature.

6.  I actually like the “Numa Numa” song, (More properly known as Dragostea Din Tei) I am fond of the meaning of the lyrics, and I can sing the yodeling part.

7.  When bored, I got to Project Gutenberg and read a classic book there, or visit Camden House’s The Complete Sherlock Holmes

Now, I must tag seven people.  Heroes Not Zombies, you’ve been tagged!  Random Lunatic News, you’ve been tagged!  Things Look Like Things, you’ve been tagged!  Blue Tea, you’ve been tagged!  Home Sweet Home, you’ve been tagged!  Montana Outdoors you’ve been tagged!  The Sacred Path, you’ve been tagged!

Below are some in-game screenshot images (two were taken on the character select screen) of my Guild Wars monk.  (They have a really neat dance, it’s a martial arts kata, quite beautiful.)  The tattoos are dyed purple, and the handwraps and gloves on the newbie armor were also dyed purple.  Obviously these were taken at different times, as my character gained levels.  She’s level 20 now, and Ascended.  I have yet to Master all of the Canthan missions with her, though.

Music, music, music!

I’ve had several songs lately on my “daily play list” lately.  In no particular order they are:

Kylie Minogue – Speakerphone  (Fan video, posted for the song.)  Very, very catchy hpynoriffs.  It is effervescent, the fizz in it is very nice.  I like the fuzz they put on the vocals too, and the subtle burbles.  I’m also fond of her song I Believe in You (The Scissor Sisters mix.)

Ketsumeishi – Train  (The video has English subtitles.)  This song is somewhat wistful, and speaks of chasing down one’s dreams.  I love how the high synthesizer part manages to evoke old fashioned train whistles.  It is saying “Don’t lose hope, even though things aren’t going well, keep trying for your dreams.”  Thank you to the blogger who posted this a few days ago, I’m sorry I didn’t think to pull up your blog so I could comment and thank you directly.

M.I.A. – Sunshowers  You can read about the artist, and an interpretation (accurate IMO) of her lyrics here and here.  I love the drums on this, and the chorus vocals!

Jamil Mustafa – It’s All Music  He doesn’t have a video for this song yet, but here is his MySpace profile with the song.  This is a great song, he’s really got talent.  This song will do just what he says “Get you out yo seat!”  I like that he’s marching to his own drummer, and going back to the true spirit of hip hop music.  There isn’t any violence in this song, it’s a feel good dance number.

Lady Sovereign9 to 5   and her 9 to 5 remix done with Ordinary Boys I don’t care about the aspersions people cast her way, that she’s “a chav” “low class” etc.  I think she’s talented, and funny.  She’s keeping her chin up, despite all the put downs heaped on her, which is a lot more than other people would do.  She’s also staying true to herself, and not letting her lable make her change her personal style.  I also like her Love Me or Hate Me.  (Yes, I do in fact see some of my own “Rawr, I’m little phear me!” attitude in her.)

Pete Miser – Scent of a Robot  I love this, it’s a neat twist on the robot concept.  Very catchy hook, and unique idea.    I especially like what I call “the Morse Code synth riff” in this song.

Banco de Gaia – Kincajou and Last Train to Lhasa  I’ve loved Banco de Gaia’s work for some time.  I can’t help but to get up and move to express their songs.

Kenan Dogulu – Cakkidi  If I recall the translation I looked up about this song correctly, it’s saying “Get on the dance floor and move your ass!”.  He’s Turkish.  This song is very catchy, try to stay in your seat and not tap in time to it or nod your head at the least.

Paul McCartney – Dance Tonight  I love this song!  I don’t care if some find it annoying, I love to dance to it!

Qkumba Zoo – The Child (Inside)  I love the philosophy in this song.  So many people grow up and forget how to play.

(The Real) Tuesday Weld – Bathtime in Clerkenwell  I like this original mix of the song better than the altered version he put out later.  LOVE the clarinet part here, so jazzy!  Yummy!

Sparks The Rythm Thief  Very avant garde, almost voice and drum with heavy classical influences, orchestral.  It is spare, yet “full” if that makes sense.  (Go listen to the song and you’ll see what I mean.)  I love this video, and I love this song.

Ok, I’ll have mercy on the poor frantic searchers. TURQUOISE ROOM ESCAPE ALTERNATE LINKS!!!

I see that several people today have come to my blog searching for an alternate link to a game called Escape Turquoise Room.  Well, ok, here you go.  Here are two links to the game.  (Note, I tried both of these, and the links were good at the time I posted this.  I’ll check back from time to time to be sure the links stay good.)  This one is a blog entry that has a walkthrough in the comments.  (Or, probably does, there often are hints and walkthroughs on the comments to the game entries this blog has.  I didn’t peek, I want to try to solve it myself.)  This one is a direct link to the game.  I haven’t played it, yet.  (So, at some point I’ll edit this to give my review, when I get the fancy to play the game.  For now, I want to play 9Dragons.)  But, here are the links for ya.  Happy Day?

ETA: Ok, I’ve played it.  First of all, take the note about the tape and WD40 seriously.  Read books and notes, and posters on walls for clues.  Examine everything, but put things back until you need the them.  Consider, that if something is moving and keeping you from taking something you suspect you need that “it shouldn’t be moving” and tape it.  (Keep clicking until you succeed.)  Consider also, that running water isn’t the only way to clean things, for example, we steam clean carpets don’t we?  Why not other things then?  Wrenches are multi-purpose tools, don’t be afraid to use one to get what you want, even if it means breaking things.  Lastly, this end game graphic should clue you in about something you might not have considered using (after a protective coating) to touch the door with, other than gloves, and protective footwear.  (Which you also need.)

Escaped Turquoise Room!

The Core of how I choose to live.

I found this page last night, and it struck a chord in me.  Finally, I have something I can bring up to express what I have stumbled in trying to convey for some time.  This is what I feel to the core as a deep Truth.  It covers not just how we interact with others, but how we should live within the World Ecosystem.  I felt it especially pertinent today, given that tomorrow we will give Thanks for all the good things that are a part of our lives, as we enjoy the company of family and friends.  I am not sure if I can quote the text of the Creed directly here, I may edit this and quote it, if I find I have permission to do so.  I have recieved permission to quote the text, so you will find it below.

Lakota Instructions for Living

Friend do it this way – that is,
whatever you do in life,
do the very best you can
with both your heart and mind.

And if you do it that way,
the Power Of The Universe
will come to your assistance,
if your heart and mind are in Unity.

When one sits in the Hoop Of The People,
one must be responsible because
All of Creation is related.
And the hurt of one is the hurt of all.
And the honor of one is the honor of all.
And whatever we do effects everything in the universe.

If you do it that way – that is,
if you truly join your heart and mind
as One – whatever you ask for,
that’s the Way It’s Going To Be.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are the “finals” of the custom headers I made.  (They are a combination of fonts in Paint and collage work using Microsoft Picture It.)  I’ll put up the header I like best today sometime, since we’ll be leaving early tomorrow to be with family for the day.  I hope you all have fun, enjoy the company of family and friends, and don’t eat too much.  May your leftovers be tasty, and thoroughly enjoyed!  The first image is an alternate Fall theme I made, but didn’t use this year.  (ETA: I was still using the Misty Look theme by Sadish when Thanksgiving arrived.)
