More polyvore collages

Here are some more collages I made at polyvore.  Only one of them has an outfit in it.  You should bring up each set page so you can better see the layers of the collages, and what went into them.  There are a lot of subtle details.

Carousel

We just had our Inter-State Fair and Rodeo from August 9 to 17th.  (One of the fair days was rained out, so the rescheduled the events and extended the fair by a day.)  I got some pictures of a carousel at the carnival.  Some of the pictures are closer than others, because I’d wait for the children to be getting off, and photograph the empty “horses” being careful not to have any children in my shot.  I only had from when the carousel stopped, to when it started again to get my photos, and sometimes the “horse” I wanted a picture of wasn’t at the place where the fence was closer to the carousel.

Night Fountain

These pictures were taken at about ten PM on June 14th 2008, in Independence Kansas, at the Ralph Mitchell Park and Zoo.  I didn’t take many of the whole fountain, because cars were going by frequently, and there were street lights, and I didn’t like how it looked on the camera display.  ETA: When you are done looking these photos over, go look at the pictures of the fountain’s reflections I got over here.  *smile*

New camera!!!

I managed to get a new camera.    It is a Nikon Coolpix L16, and I am almost fully morphed into a shutterbug, much to the cats’ dismay.  *grin*  I have yet to coax them to make pretty faces even during the flash, but I bet I’ll find a way.  *ponders new ways to capture the moggies in picture format*  I’ll be making several entries with images, probably in backwards order, come to think of it, so you can scroll and see the images in the order I took them in.  ETA: This is my first digicam, by the way.  I’ve taken pictures with the old cartridge cameras, 35mm cameras, (some) those little keychain cameras that were only as big as the film cartridge but took amazingly good photos, and disposable cameras.  Almost never a digital camera, maybe three times someone has handed me their digicam and asked me to photograph them.  (Probably because I am short, and they want the picture taken more straight on, I’d suppose.)  So, yeah, I’m thrilled.

Spring in SE Kansas

The Mr. and I went on a hike at Elk City Resevoir, and I bought 2 disposable cameras to take pictures.  We took the intermediate trail, that is why you will see blue paint marks on trees in some pictures.  I am putting the pictures in the order they were taken that day, with a Kodak 800 speed Fun Camera.  (Disposable…) The only grump I have about those particular cameras is, you couldn’t choose to have the flash on or off, it always went off.  This made it so I had to edit (almost) every photo to put back the color and turn down the brightness so the pictures would look more like they did that day.  Most of them are right, one or two aren’t quite.

More Music! (It’s been awhile…)

I really like Yael Naim’s style.  I especially love her song “New Soul” which many of you will be familiar with because it is in a TV commercial.  (Not sure which one, I don’t watch a lot of television, but I heard it on a commercial in a store the other day.)  Here is her MySpace page, for now it has New Soul on it.  Can you hear the Beatle’s influence in her song?  I can, I think it’s wonderful, it has charmed me.

This next song is proprietary to the site.  (I wrote to the company to inquire about the song, and got a reply back, this is how I know the song is proprietary.)  I found it by chance while looking up just what this “Himalayin Pink Salt” was I’d seen on Iron Chef America.  I’d like to try it someday, and the Goji Berries too.  Himalania.

Seal’s Amazing is quite catchy.  I’ve always liked him, some of his songs better than others.  Another favorite of mine by him is Crazy, and I like Alanis Morisette’s cover of the song also.

I’ll post a link to The Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)  this is a favorite song going back to childhood for me.  Have you ever read what eurhythmics is?  To quote an excerpt from Wikipedia:

Eurhythmics (also Rhythmic Gymnastics, Rhythmics) is an approach to the education of music that was devised by Emile Jaques-Dalcroze. This method utilizes the expression of physical movement and musical rhythms to reinforce the concepts which affect the student’s performance and retention of musical basics.

Neat, eh?  Another favorite song by them (there are lots of songs by this group that I love, and also by Annie Lennox solo) is Here Comes The Rain Again

I’ll probably come back later and add some more songs to this, below this sentence.

So, I’m a geek…

I found this site a little while back, and thought it was really neat.  I kind of want a little zeusaphone!  I found several videos on YouTube of twin solid state tesla coils producing music.  The ultimate electronica!  I sat there entranced watching these things, and about all I could muster to say was “That is *SO* COOOOL!!!”  It is fascinating to listen closely and hear how some of the buzzing notes in electronica and other music really aren’t too far off from controlled lightening.  (Which, those arcs sort of are in a way.)

It is so neat to watch, but I wouldn’t dare be as near to them as I see the audience being in the video.  (Much less don that protective gear and stand near enough to let the arcs wash over me.  No thanks, I’ll watch from afar, crouched safely down, and taking care to not court misfortune.  I just know my luck with such things.  I’d skydive before I’d do that.)  I’m rather dangerprone.  I managed to give myself an audible, somewhat painful static shock FROM A COOKIE not that long ago.  I just know, that at the least my hair would end up looking like a Fraggle

What do you think of the musical lightning that are singing tesla coils?  Hard to find words at first, eh?
